Course Description
The Safeguard course/certification covers safety supervision training for guardians such as day camp counsellors, counsellors-in-training and anyone else who accompanies groups of children and/or teenagers to water settings (e.g., pools or waterfronts).
The course reviews the following major topic areas: the responsibility involved with safeguarding children and/or teenagers in a water setting, even while the pool/waterfront may be supervised by lifeguards. The course also covers the following topics: accident prevention, water safety awareness, and the principles of aquatic safety supervision.
Safeguard training is designed for swimmers and non-swimmers alike.

Prerequisites
None. Ideally, guardians are at least 12 years of age, able to swim, and have some lifesaving experience.

None. Annual retraining recommended.
